2024 Hefner Furniture Christmas Parade

The Park Hills - Leadington Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce the return of the beloved Hefner Furniture Christmas Parade, set to take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024. This festive event will serve as the grand finale to the Downtown Park Hills Association's "Christmas in Our Hometown" celebration.

Date and Time: Saturday, December 14, 2024

• 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. - Photos with Santa at No. 9 Coffee Co.
• 6:00 p.m. - Parade line-up (All entries must be in place)
• 6:30 p.m. - Parade begins
• 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. - Photos with Santa resume on the Patio between Four Towns Brewing Co. & Scoops on Main -- Grab a free Hot Dog from Four Towns Brewing while you're there!

Theme: "Gnome for Christmas"

This year's whimsical theme, "Gnome for Christmas," invites participants to embrace the charm and magic of these beloved mythical creatures. Gnomes have become increasingly popular in holiday decor, symbolizing good luck and protection for the home.

Participants are encouraged to let their creativity flourish with this enchanting theme. Here are some ideas to inspire float designs:
 

• Create a winter wonderland scene featuring oversized gnomes among twinkling lights and snow-covered trees.
• Design a giant gnome's workshop, complete with elves and holiday gifts.
• Craft a gnome village with miniature houses, mushrooms, and forest elements.
• Incorporate traditional gnome colors like red, green, and white into your float's color scheme.
• Use natural materials like pinecones, branches, and moss to add authentic forest touches.
• Consider adding interactive elements, such as moving gnome figures or pop-up surprises.

"We're excited to see how our community brings the 'Gnome for Christmas' theme to life," said Tamara Coleman. "This playful concept offers endless possibilities for creative and festive float designs that will delight parade-goers of all ages."

Participants are reminded that while embracing the theme is encouraged, all entries should maintain a family-friendly atmosphere suitable for the holiday season.

Route

The parade will follow the traditional Homecoming Parade Route, starting at St. Francois Avenue, proceeding to West Main Street, then to Rinke Street, and concluding at the High School via Stone Street. Participants will line up along Westwind and Davis Court.

Special Attractions

Santa Claus will be available for photos and visits with children before and after the parade. Before he will at Leadington Plaza, and after you'll find him on the patio between Scoops on Main & Four Towns Brewing Co.

Participation and Prizes

There is no entry fee to participate in the parade. Float prizes include:

• First Place: $200 cash, a collectible snow globe (valued at $100), and a gift basket from Hefner Furniture & Appliance
• Second Place: $150 cash
• Third Place: $100 cash

Winners will be announced to the media immediately following the parade, with prizes awarded on Monday, December 16, 2024.
