Arts Council Brings 1904 World's Fair to Life, Through a Child's Eyes

The 1904 World's Fair was one of St. Louis history's high points, and on Oct. 29, a unique perspective on the global affair will be shared with young and old alike in the Mineral Area College library.

"1904 World’s Fair: A Child's Eye-View", sponsored by Mineral Area Council on the Arts, will feature family-friendly storyteller Annette Harrison's youth-oriented narration of that historic event. Families are encouraged to bring their kids to Mineral Area College’s C.H. Cozean Library on the Park Hills campus at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29. Admission is free, no ticket is required.

Daniel Basler, arts council executive director, said Harrison's energetic, interactive, amazing storytelling has made her one of St Louis's most popular storytellers.

"When the arts council board and I were building the season's schedule, we were struck by how entertaining and educational her stories are," Basler said. "And she's passionate about teaching literacy, character education, diversity, environmental awareness and American History through stories, she's been doing this for more than 30 years."

Harrison's book, "Easy to Tell Stories For Young Children," is one of the best-selling storytelling books to date.
