Balloon Release - Southeast Missouri Family Violence Council

Join us at the St. Francois County Courthouse in Farmington from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. to celebrate Domestic Violence Awareness Month with a Balloon Release.

We will be releasing balloons at 12:30 p.m. as a symbol of mourning to those we've lost, celebration for those who have won, and encouragement to those who have just began their journey to safety. 

While you're there, view the "Clothesline Display", a very touching tribute from the women and children who are escaping domestic and sexual abuse.  Each of the t-shirts were made by a woman or child living in the shelter.  They were asked to draw or write something explaining how being abused made them feel on one side and then to draw or write something on the opposite side which signifies how their life has changed since leaving the violence. It's truly a very moving display.

We will also be unmasking the Face of Domestic Violence Exhibit.

There free hotdogs, chips and soda for those in attendance.  Purple ribbons and other awareness items will be available for donations of $1. Advocates and Board Members will be available to answer any questions about services and volunteering.
