Investor Meeting - October 2016

Please join us for an extra special October Investor Meeting on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at, 11:45 a.m. at The Coffee Grill, located at 3413 Rosener Road in Park Hills.

Republican Missouri House of Representatives Candidate Mike Henderson and Democratic Candidate Missouri House of Representatives Candidate Travis Barnes will be our featured speakers for October.

Because of this extra special presentation, we are REQUIRING RESERVATIONS, and requesting that all guests ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 11:45 a.m. so that we can begin the meeting at precisely 12:00 p.m.

Following the typical Chamber business portion of the meeting, each candidate will be given 10 minutes to present their vision, goals, and plans for their time in office should they be named the new Missouri State Representative for the 117th District in November. After their presentations, there will be a 10-Minute question & answer segment so that Chamber Investors will be able to ask their own questions, learning more about each candidate.

About the Candidates

Mike Henderson (R) - Henderson was raised on a rural farm is southeast Missouri. After attending Murray State University he worked in education for 31 years as a teacher, coach, and administrator.

Henderson believes that we need to create good jobs in Missouri. He has vowed to work to help make that possible. "We must create a pro-business atmosphere for Missouri to allow us to help small and big business alike." States Henderson on his campaign website. "We must make Missouri attractive to business owners."

Henderson feels that we must continue to help the educators in Missouri, noting that the children of Missouri are the greatest resource we have, and promises to support giving our teachers all the resources necessary for success.

Travis Barnes (D) - Barnes, of Park Hills, is a member of Iron Workers Local 396. He has been with the union for 20 years and currently serves as vice president.

As a state representative, Barnes said one of his key objectives would stopping the attacks against the middle class. Noting that economic expansion for the community “is a must,” Barnes said he would be diligent at finding ways to bring business to the district.

“I have grown up in the 117th District,” Barnes stated on his campaign Facebook page. “You are my family, my friends and my community, and I promise to be as hard a worker in the House of Representatives as I am in the field as an Ironworker.”

Topics range from small business information to governmental issues and assistance to community interests.
