Theatre Guild to Perform "Return to the Forbidden Planet"

Theatre Guild to Perform "Return to the Forbidden Planet"

Mineral Area College’s Little Theatre Guild presents its fall musical, Return to the Forbidden Planet, at 7 pm nightly, Dec. 2-5, at the MAC Fine Arts Theatre.

Admission is $3 for students and seniors and $7 for adults. Tickets are available at the MAC Bookstore or at the door prior to the show, pending availability.

Theatre Director Chuck Gallaher said the play will be particularly interesting to classic sci-fi devotees.

"Basically, if you put Rocky Horror Picture Show, Mystery Science Theater 3000 and a Baby Boomer Show's music in a bowl and mix it around, you’ll get Return to the Forbidden Planet,” Gallaher said. "We’ve taken every aspect of 1950s and '60s sci-fi sets and put them all together in order to make the atmosphere from this show. The music is amazing, the characters are bright and fun, the entire show is just a really silly re-telling of Shakespeare's The Tempest and the 1950s science fiction film Forbidden Planet, starring Leslie Nielsen."

The cast includes:

  • Dr. Prospero: Aaron Gamble, Potosi
  • Ariel: Logan Shropshire, Bonne Terre
  • Miranda: Shiloh Burt, Crystal City
  • Captain Tempest: Lucas Robinson, Park Hills
  • Science Officer: Leslea Walter, Pacific
  • Navigation Officer 1: Sandra L. Szendrey, Ironton
  • Navigation Officer 2: Zach Dane, Bonne Terre
  • Cookie: Danny Montgomery, Desloge
  • Bosun: James Mullaney, De Soto
  • Verde: Caitlyn Emert, Pilot Knob
  • Arancione: Rachel Gann, Park Hills
  • Giallo: Courtlyn Dane, Bonne Terre
