Mineral Area Fine Arts Academy Announces 2026 Summer Camps for Music, Theatre, and Performance Students

The Mineral Area Fine Arts Academy at Mineral Area College is excited to announce its lineup of 2026 Summer Camps, offering students a dynamic, hands-on experience in music, theatre, and performance. These week-long camps provide young artists the opportunity to learn from experienced instructors, build confidence, develop skills, and create lasting memories in a supportive and creative environment.

The 2026 Summer Camps include a variety of options designed for students ranging from elementary age through college.

The Big Band Camp, scheduled for June 22 through June 26, 2026, is open to students from eighth grade through college who play trumpet, trombone, saxophone, piano, guitar, bass, vibraphone, or drums. Students should have at least two years of instruction or demonstrate proficiency on their instrument. Participants will gain experience performing in a big band setting while receiving instruction in theory, improvisation, history, and master classes. The camp is directed by Dave Dickey and led by professional jazz musicians from across the United States. The cost is $250 for commuters or $400 for students utilizing on-campus housing.

The Theatre Camp will take place July 20 through July 24, 2026, and is open to students ages 7 through college. This camp introduces participants to improvisation, reader’s theatre, dance, musicals, and more. Students are grouped by age and experience, helping them build friendships, express creativity, and grow confidence on stage. Enrollment is limited to 100 students, and early registration is encouraged. The cost is $95.

The Show Choir Camp runs July 27 through July 31, 2026, and is open to students ages 14 through college. This high-energy camp focuses on singing, choreography, staging, lighting, costumes, and performance techniques. Students will work toward a themed end-of-week showcase, gaining valuable performance experience and confidence along the way. The cost is $95.

The Junior Show Choir Camp, also scheduled for July 27 through July 31, 2026, is designed for students ages 8 through 14. Participants will learn fun songs with coordinated movement centered around an exciting theme and will perform alongside the full show choir cast in the Friday night showcase. The cost for Junior Show Choir is $40.

The summer concludes with the Middle School Band Camp, held August 3 through August 7, 2026. This camp is open to middle school students who have completed at least one year of band instruction. Students will rehearse throughout the week and prepare music for a culminating concert on the final day. The camp is directed by Mrs. Linda Huck and assisted by area band directors. The cost is $95.
